Logans Run Tv Series - Poetic Mashups

I took an episode from the 1977 Logans Run Tv Series called The Fear Factor and created a couple of poetic mashups.
♦♦♦

Lost From Home - Logans Run

I called the first mashup Lost From Home and this tonepoem deals with ideas of authority versus autonomy. The idea, or perhaps warning, was along these lines: a culture based solely on authority and control inevitably loses the ability to produce autonomous individuated citizens until even the loftiest inner circle dullards become so consumed by anxiety over repressed guilt and it's tightening of psycho-pharmaceutical restraints that they themselves no longer have the bravery needed to think independently. Their culture becomes a brain dead super organism in it's final death throes.

Fear Factor - Logans Run

My second mashup from the 1970's tv series logans run. In this tonepoem the emphasis is on the words: #fear #anxiety #purpose, #courage, #menial and #soldier.

The episode asks the perennial and eternally classic question: Can a culture of control become scared stupid? ... surprisingly, the answer is yes ;-O.

Winston Churchill - Poetic Mashups

I took Sir Winston Churchill's' "We Must Arm Speech" and mashed it up into these two tonepoems. Hope they are enjoyed!
====

Churchill speaks: "Thots and Words."

In "Thots and Words" the Terror of Hitler talks about what it takes to throw a mighty potentate into a rage of feeling bad... apparently it is a "tiny little mouse" that can bring down these mighty potentates.

===

Churchill says: The Word Is NO!

Churchill talks about what the word k(NO)w gives to humanity.

Thank you for listening and as always comments are welcome!

Archetypes On Shatterday with Bruce Willis

Archetypes On Shatterday is a poetic soundscape made from mashing-up an old twilight zone episode with Bruce Willis in the starring role. It is from the first 1985 The Twilight Zone TV Series and this episode was called Shatterday. (like saturnday - samhain?) and deals with the jungian ideas of archetypes, anima / animus, shadow, etc...

Strangely enough, the feminine sounding voice is the voice of Bruce Willis merely moved one step from its original note... so the voice that represents the feminine side of Bruce Willis's character is Bruce Willis's. There are no other affects. Listening closely to his voice was fascinating, a very soothing soft sexually ambivalent voice. Perfect for this show and even better when he is reassuring terrorists that he is coming to get them. And they can not stop him - :) lolz.

Ray Bradbury Theatre - Poetic Mashups

I have been a big fan of Ray Bradbury since I was a child, and have always loved his philosophical take on life, and of course his incredibly unique, rolling style of narration. With it`s sudden imagery and stark possibility!

===
The First Mashup is from a story called "The Chicago Abyss" and I called it "Dangerous Memory."

Fave quotes from the show are:

1). "The things silly or not that people remember are the things that people will search for again."

2). "I just wanted people to think where we're going what we've done."

3). char1 says: "you were there, you saw, you did nothing?!" char2 says: "Fight one fool to save another?"

4). "You trying to make me feel bad? Don't you know the law? What would the police say? (then calls / yells for the) POLICE!!

===
The next Ray Bradbury Theatre story I sampled from is Called "Usher II," and it is a story about a future where the 'moral' police burn the past... but it is a story with a happy ending if you are a fan of Mr. Edgar Allan Poe? Hopefully this particular tonepoem captures the intent of the author?

My fave quote is where the main character says to the moral police: "There has always been a minority afraid of something, and a great majority afraid of the past, afraid of the future, afraid of themselves..."

The Orpheus story...

Here is a fave quote, almost a mantrum to me, though the author that wrote it did not much impress me, this quote itself is notable, and the book itself had some reasonable good content not easily found online, or at wikipedia o.0.
===

...The Orpheus story looks inwards upon the literary creators and recreators of these myths, reminding us that poets have always striven to create a mythical world that shall be a symbol for the world of actual existence. A few, such as Byron and Rimbaud, have even completed their myths by living them. Most have written about them, or painted them instead. "There is no doubt about it," remarked Thomas Mann, "The moment when the story-teller acquires the mythical way of looking at things marks a new beginning in his life. It means a peculiar intensification of his artistic mood, a fresh serenity in his powers of perception and creation." And this usually comes rather late in life.

Music Tips #1

All spaces have their own sound as we all know... pink noise is used to balance equipment... a clap helps to hear early reflections in the corners... the bounce off a wall... all spaces have their own frequency.

For years now, I have been tapping out the natural, ambient rhythms of a space... to mirror it, match it... first tempo then the juicy stuff of on beat and off beat, and then the rest... playing real music on real instruments, whether with others or otherwise is now easier...

Just catch the tempo of a space while tapping your fingers next time you need something to do, and see where it leads you... I have discovered all sorts of things since starting this experiment.

First Post - Intro

My first blog post at iampoeticise is an introduction and an about.

First off, my name is Paul, and some unfortunate soul already registered poeticise.blogspot, and another poor wretch got the one at tumbler, so sadly I had to choose iampoeticise at blogspot.

The IAmPoeticise blog will emphasise the philosophical aspects of my thot, creative acts, personal experiences, historical perspectives, and all other content derived by the industry of my will.

By using this blog now I am able to go into detail on my experiences using the web to promote my music, art and so on.

Here is a list of other web properties I maintain and distribute content from:
